Why wasn't that done in the first place for those who couldn't afford buying it for themselves instead of creating some asinine mammoth like obamacare which was a scam, and that way all those who wanted to keep their existing plans and doctors would have been able to do that...

The Dems wanted a single payer system. The Republicans would not go for it so, like now, healthcare was compromised down to an unworkable plan called Obamacare. The new unworkable plan is Trumpcare.

If we just let the health insurance system collapse, first off, millions of people would suffer real pain and hardships, including MY family. Second, it would absolutely guarantee a full Dem takeover of House and Senate next election and Trump as a one term president.

I just don't understand why 30 other developed countries, ALL of them except us, are able to make a single payer system work but we don't feel we can. I just don't get it.

National healthcare does not require giving up capitalism. Look at Israel. That country is an entrepreneur factory. They crank out an amazing amount of successful start up companies. Yet they chose a national healthcare system.

You mean foreign and domestic. Corruption is the worst form of domestic enemy. When you think about it carefully no amount of terrorism can be worse than corrupting the system - both government and enterprise, corrupting the information we are fed which we depend on to shape our responses in our everyday lives.

The reason we don't have decent healthcare is corruption. Title 15 of US Code of Regulations includes laws against restraint of trade through anti-competitive activities, otherwise known as the Sherman Antitrust Act. There is no enforcement of this black letter law within the healthcare industry. The federal government is corrupted by big money interests and has been for decades. The insurance industry is nothing more than an evil tapeworm eating the nation from the inside out. Congress and other government officials are enriching themselves at our expense.
