my eyes on trump-xi meeting this week

perhaps the choreography be that the two guys would be left mostly with each other plus translators / recorders for 24-48 hours, minus the secretaries of this and the ministers of that, and then the rest of the entourage on both sides would be pulled in to either note the deal done, should there be a deal, or to spin a tale in the absence of a deal.

understand both camps are taking the meeting bit more seriously than the meetings trump has had with the rest of the global folks.

let us wait & see if the script plays true.

if they met, what did they allegedly talk about?

it is certainly peculiar that a summit is tagged w/ neither joint nor separate communiques

China, US agree to expand cooperation in trade, infrastructure and energy

China's President Xi Jinping has met with US President Donald Trump, at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Just hours ago, the Chinese president had extended an invitation to Trump to pay a state visit to China later this year. The two leaders have agreed to expand cooperation in various fields including trade, infrastructure, energy, and regional security.

A meeting between leaders of the world's two largest economies... coming together in a bid to chart the course of bilateral ties.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, alongside Madam Peng Liyuan and the Chinese delegation, arrived in Florida on Thursday, for the first meeting between the Chinese president and US President Donald Trump.

President Xi said he has kept in close contact with Donald Trump via telephone and letters, and added that he is ready to work with his US counterpart Donald Trump to push forward China-US relations from a new starting point.

After meeting with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate, President Xi said "there are a thousand reasons to make the China-US relationship work, and no reason to harm it."

Xi added that ever since the normalization of China-US relations, 45 years ago, bilateral ties have made great progress and brought enormous and pragmatic benefits to both nations' peoples, in spite of occasional ups and downs.

The Chinese president said it takes political resolve and historical commitments from leaders of both countries to enhance the bilateral relations in the 45 years to come.

President Xi said a strong and friendly relationship between China and the US, is in line with the interests of the people of both countries, and cooperation is the correct, and only choice for China and the US.

Xi also proposed to maintain high-level communication between China and the US, while utilizing dialogue to promote cooperation in fields of trade, cyber security, and infrastructure.

The Chinese president urged both sides to properly tackle sensitive issues and constructively manage their differences.

When talking about working together to tackle transnational crimes, Xi said the two sides should enhance communication and coordination within current multi-lateral frameworks, including the United Nations, G20 Group, and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, to help maintain peace, stability and prosperity in the world.

The Chinese president also invited President Donald Trump to visit China some time later this year.

After accepting, Trump said he hoped to make the trip soon.

Trump added that China has achieved great success in its development under the leadership of President Xi, and has won the respect of the international community.

Trump added that it was a "great honor" to host the Chinese leader. And expressed confidence that both sides will enjoy a very, very great relationship over the long term.

Trump also said he and President Xi had developed a personal friendship, and hoped the two leaders can help promote the development of bilateral ties, together.

President Xi and President Trump are expected to get into more detailed discussions about trade and foreign policy issues on Friday, concluding their summit with a working lunch.
