<<<<<As I keep saying, the Democratic Party has been moving left since the turn-of-the-century>>>>

Yup continuing to move left and continuing to lose ground on the national level (State and local).

Your portrayal of Bernie is way oversimplified. I don't think he has moved left at all although he certainly has been for the working man and thus against the Trade agreements. But Bernie is somewhat of a fiscal conservative. That doesn't fit in with the liberal wing of the party at all. Bernie has also been a defender of the second amendment and that thinking too doesn't fit with the liberal wing of the party. If the democratic party continues to move left (as opposed to becoming progressive) as you suggest they will lose even more States.
