Joe, your remarks, if valid, reflex an "ego" making decisions.
This could be good or bad for Compaq, depending on how well
their ego is coordinated with good business sense. Again,
I don't know much how Compaq operates. Intel seems a bit
more dispassionate about these issues, although I certainly
wouldn't say they lack passion.

Some do and some don't; Gateway and Dell don't seem to have a problem with it. Compaq clearly has a (long standing) BIG problem with it. Others are in-between. Remember, the box makers get acutal funds from Intel for using the "Intel Inside" logo and advertising computers with Intel chips, so it is not simply something they are doing purely out of love for Intel.
