Barry,

Remember, the box makers get acutal funds from Intel for using the "Intel Inside" logo and advertising computers with Intel chips, so it is not simply something they are doing purely out of love for Intel.

If all the boxmakers pay the price X for a chip, and they all get refund Y for running the commercial they end up paying price Z = X - Y.

But another way of describing this is that Intel forces boxmakers to run Intel commercials. If they disobey, they have to pay higher prices for the chips.

I am not sure if this scheme is in compliance with our anti-trust laws.
