Guys, Something about this unfolding story doesn't add up. IBM is now producing the Media GX at .25 micron. In addition, I have been led to believe that two Taiwan fabs are gearing up to produce the Media GX. The price of the 6x86MX-233 hasn't budged an inch in over a month, and Grump Micro no longer carries any 6x86MXs. (Question: does anyone know the inventory status of the 6x86MX?) So where are all of the chips going?

Could it be that they're being stockpiled for a new product launch? We all know that someone will introduce a $500 corporate box this year, and that Cyrix was pushing such a box at Comdex.

Is it not reasonable to assume that the next market the GX will crack will be the corporate market? My only questions are when and by whom?

Will it be Compaq, IBM, or HP? And why is IBM FINALLY giving Cyrix access to its state of the art production capacity? They've never done it before; why are they doing it now?

Cyrix may not have "lost out" to AMD for the Sub-1000 home market. Like elite military units that are reserved for the most important battles, available Media GX chips may be used to invade the last uncontested computer market segment: Corporate America.

This year is going to be a humdinger!
