Paul,

AMD's 0.25um Products:

Since 0.25um devices are fabricated at SDC in Sunnyvale, AMD is shipping engineering samples as production parts to its customers. Is AMD really getting that desperate?

John.

I saw that too, Paul. Wanted to see how long it would take you all to notice it. :)

Not a good sign; supposedly AMD has been working on .25 micron at SDC since the inital announcement of the .35 micron part.

Paul,

Re: "AMD's K6 0.25 micron - Made at Sunnyvale SDC ... What do you make of this? "

It doesn't surprise me ... AMD has had yield problems that has forced
Austin to focus entirely on the .35um process. I'm sure that Austin
in bringing up the .25um process as we speak ... but the question is, will
AMD be able to copy the process that is running in SDC. AMD is not well
disciplined in process development and it wouldn't surprise me to find
major equipment differences between the two sites. If AMD stumbles
at all, especially after the Compaq/IBM announcements, this WILL BE
their last chance!!

Make It So,
Yousef
