I don't think this quarter makes a lot of difference, unless you are very short term. They may make thier numbers. But I think Asia will hit them second and third quarters pretty hard. I would think they will state this during the analysts meeting when they announce their quarterly results. Probably then it will act like the Titanic.

DVD Forum Verifies DVD-RAM Standards

January 7, 1998 (TOKYO) -- The DVD Forum began
verifying DVD-RAM drives and disks to assure products
from makers comply with DVD-RAM standards.

At present, manufacturers of DVD-RAM drives and disks make only a
temporary contract with the DVD Forum in terms of licensing the
format. Standard verification thus is advised by the forum, but it is not
compulsory.

However, when the makers sign a regular DVD-RAM Format License
contract with the forum starting in June 1998, the forum will oblige them
to have the verification.

Verification was done by three companies: Hitachi Ltd., Matsushita
Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. and Toshiba Corp. They will verify
recording and replaying behavior of DVD-RAM drives using a
DVD-RAM standard disk and a base signal disk.

They will do the same tests on DVD-RAM disks using a standard
DVD-RAM drive.

The charges will be 1,000,000 yen (US$7,520) for drive verification
and 500,000 yen (US$3,760) for disk verification. It takes about 10
days to two weeks for the verification.
