Charles; There are legions also who have bought Dell, IBM, Compaq, AST etc with proprietary motherboards with no upgrade path except a new box or an overdrive, I get them in daily. Next they want to sell me their $5000 box, and faint when I offer $150 or so. Those guys who bought 2-3 years ago take the biggest hit, and they were told their systems were fully upgradeable. There is a scrap yard nearby that gets old boxes and ships them to third world countries, all except IBM, which the third world countries do not want.

Charles - Re: "...my point was at what point does one believe

Technical Manual or every Major Computer magazine published in the
last 12 months before making a Computer purchase?"

When in doubt, read the manual.
