It sure can't hurt. I have a friend who purchased one of these warranties, this is what started my interest in APCO, and she thought it was a great deal. She has told all her friends about it, so from a laymans perspective, word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. My son is getting ready to purchase a car, and I will advise him to look into this also.

Keep smiling

>>>If we use $20,000 as an average car price, this adds another 6150 cars that APCO has a shot at selling warranties to... <<<

Jim I love this especially when you factor in this portion of the press release from APCO in Decemebr.

ATLANTA, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Automobile Protection Corporation (Nasdaq: APCO -
news; APCO) and Sonic Automotive, Inc. (NYSE: SAH - news), have entered into an exclusive agreement, whereby Sonic will offer APCO's EasyCare(R) service contracts to purchasers of vehicles from Sonic's twenty franchised dealerships and franchises which may be acquired in the future. <<<

I really like that exclusive part.

More on SAH...

>>>, N.C., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Sonic Automotive, Inc. (NYSE: SAH - news).
For the three months ended September 30, 1997 the Company's pro forma (including the results of Acquisitions, the Reorganization and the Company's Initial Public Offering) total revenues were $255.0 million with total Unit sales of 13,904.<<<

Wouldn't this mean 13904 x 4 = 55,616 cars next year if they didn't grow there business at all? Adjusting your average price down on the previous post from $20,000 to the (255M divided by 13,904 units =) $18,340.00 price. It would be an additional 6,706 units.

These two combined would mean potential exclusive warranties of 62,322

I do remember Todd telling me that they did already sell to 4 of the 23 dealerships that SAH operated. It also appears to me that SAH isn't done aquiring more dealerships.

Am I right or am I missing something?

SOME COVERAGE SPECULATION....

Sorry Jim you got me thinking (should be ok because I was laying down at the time and not doing anything else)<g>

I was looking at the people who recently initiated coverage on SAH

1. 12/8/97 - Wheat First
2. 12/10/97 - NB Montgomery
3. 12/15/97 - Merrill Lynch
4. 01/07/98 - Bank of America Robertson Stevens

What do you think the possibilities are that one of these might initiate coverage or buy shares in some of their funds to the Company taht has the exclusive warranty agreement with SAH dealerships.? Hmmm.

I thought it was an interesting thought. What does anybody else think?
You know me just trying to improve on my never ending stock market education?

Cary
