Well, you did quote that part of my post. And I was just paraphrasing what i-node posted. Both Tenchu and i-node have argued that for years.

IMO we (the government) should be cognizant of opportunity cost and marginal value in all things short of attacks and disasters.

Absolutely. I have never argued otherwise.

It is just that I get my back up when people like i-node get the vapors and clutch their pearls over the imagined high cost of things like climate change, yet are happy to pay trillions for their own pet projects like meddling in the Middle East.

It seems like everything has too high of a price tag that doesn't involve killing people in other countries. Or subsidizing the investor class, which is often related.

As to the deficit spending, somehow tax and spend Democrats are worse than borrow and spend Republicans these days.

Fixed, since we've got an (R) government at the moment..

Money spent on global warming is not available to be spent on tax cuts for the wealthy.
