Brian, I have seen several posts that mentioned the number of Mutual Funds that own AMAT, that can be both good and bad....Alot of mutual funds have to show quarterly returns...therefore, they are quick to dump any stock or sector that they think will underperform in the next few quarters.....they usually are not long term investors like alot of the folks on this thread.

Some internet stocks are in favor because it is an unknown frontier...by that I mean that the potential is huge if you let your imagination go wild. Where as with an AMAT...people know what the potential is for the next few quarters and also well into the future. Therefore, at this point investors think that the upside potential is much greater in the internet stocks, everyone is looking for the next MSFT, INTC or CSCO....the internet is the new frontier for such new stocks. We will have to wait and see if another MSFT emerges from the internet dust.
