ultra distances are not long marathons. They are a completely different species. Likely your 'run' will be not more that about 17 to 20 minute miles. That means that you are on your feet, and not taking any long rests, for about 24 to 36 hours. Its a mental thing mostly. And you need to have trained. To have done a few sixties before the real event. Most important you need to do your homework. You need to be prepared.

This thread can be regarded as a resource. But you need to go back and read the material VP. You need to do your homework. There are some exchanges between Pogeu and Charters that are very to the point. But nobody is going to lead you to them, just as nobody is going to run the race you are running for you.

The D3 society or whatever its name is another good source for information. Basic stuff by good never the less.

You can have no idea of where you are if you don't do the blood tests. Once you know your readings you can being to intelligently plan. D3 is not a dangerous vitamin, chances of reaching a toxic level are very very small. And as Pogeu has said on many occasions, the studies show that toxic levels are easy to quickly reduce by stopping D3 supplementation and drinking a lot of water, and there are no long term effects. Yes there is a question of D3 effecting your calcium levels in your blood, but that is best handled by NOT taking calcium supplements, and getting Ca from you diet, and supplementing with K2/K7- which act as guides to Ca and usher it into the boney tissues and out of the softer tissues and white fibrous tissues . Exercise also ameliorates the effects of high doses of D3. And if your are getting regular blood tests (every 6 months) you know where you stand with regard to your PTH (Parathyroid Hormone) levels. ALL this is discussed a number of times over the past 10 years of this thread.

You have been around SI for a while. You certianly know that SI is not a 'politically correct and polite' haven of smiley faces. Pogeu is this threads best example of our rejection of the generally advocated 'hold me 'and and wipe me arse' mentality demanded by Americans today.

To this day I am a volunteer trail builder and mountain climber (non-technical).
