I love it

Thank you

"But you need to go back and read the material VP."

Thank you for that. I can understand now that this board is not intended to be a support group.

When I was younger and arrogant - or perhaps I should say more arrogant -, I didn't know what I didn't know. ...made me a lot more cocky than I should have been. In those days, I'm sure I alienated at lot more people than I can even guess at.

Recently I completed 12 years at running a local Lyme disease support group (with a board of directors) starting with a handful of people to over 450 on our e-mail list, including our on-line and real time meeting groups. I more/less facilitated these meetings keeping a low profile while encouraging others to talk/write, especially the medical and metal health professionals among our members.

One thing I understood well about this experience was that the surest way to turn off a newbie, turn them away from a group dedicated to their support, would be to say, "We've already covered that, go look it up."

Another thing I learned was that we are always gaining new understanding, that what we think we know is always changing, complicated by the fact that there are few health concerns where symptoms and treatments are the same for everyone. This is especially so for "Lymies".
