Prior to the last 3 years, there was no need for air conditioning. Before that, Seattle only had about 3 days per years above 90 degrees but that has changed dramatically.

Give that AC's cost $100-$200, that statement is probably not far off.

I remember the first AC I bought, 30 years ago when money was money - over $400 (not adjusted for inflation).

Meanwhile, a third of households there have an AC in a place that Ken says usually doesn't need it.

I'm sure those stats next year will increase.
