Frank has asked about the impact of an HPV vaccine on the cytopathology industry and AccuMed in particular.

Cervical cancer, like most cancers, develops over many years. As such, it would take many years before a significant impact on cervical cancer prevalence by an HPV vaccine could be detected. AccuMed is already developing other technologies related to specific markers and probes for disease detection. These will include other organ systems for cancer detection as well as other disease processes (e.g. infectious disease).

I do not know what the target date is for the development of an HPV vaccine.

Frank,

For this industry, it appears that 1998 so far is the year of ACMI and NPTH!

Do you think the movement in NPTH is primarily those betting on the approval for primary screening or shorts covering just in case it gets approved?

BTW, If you were a broker, would it upset you if someone suggested that you had given one of your clients an update on one of the companies you have followed closely? What gives? The information in question had already become public knowledge on this thread! Isn't it the job of a broker to keep their clients informed? And wouldn't a broker who was close to a company be able to do a better job?

I am still flabbergasted by the e-mail I got this morning. Maybe he read my post fast, and really thought I was implying that goAirborne and he was one in the same? Clearly that was not my intent!
