If I find a system I can trust, I will apply it to any time frame to see how it works. Patterns aren't really my cup of tea unless they can be mechanized. No, I am not a believer in comparing indexes or futures to price, I haven't seen it gives exits/entries that I feel comfortable with. But the important thing is a system must match your style not mine, you may find information from the systems of other that you want to apply.
