The graphics card is a full size Radeon. Since I had to remove it in order to remove the boot SSD, we established that the problem exists with or without the separate gpu.

I couldn't get anywhere with Dell today. They say the machine is beyond the return period, so they won't replace it.They want me to send the computer to Houston for repair. Since the hardware seems to be OK, I'm not convinced that's necessary.

The problem started when it was still in the return period, as evidenced by my initial contacts with Costco Concierge Services and Dell. I'm going to go back through Costco, which might get me to a Microsoft tech to see if we can address it as a software problem. Even if Costco agreed to take it back, they no longer stock this model.

I'm no stranger to a rock and a hard place. I'll try to move one of them.
