DATA RACE's Be There!(TM) Remote Access System
Helps Reichhold Chemicals, Inc. Increase Productivity

SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- DATA RACE (Nasdaq:
RACE) announced today the sale of a Be There! system to Reichhold,
a major chemical company with more than a billion dollars in annual
revenue.

Individuals from the company's technology and sales teams have been
using the product on a trial basis since July 1997. According to one
individual at Reichhold Chemicals, Inc., "The Be There! product helps
us gather our e-mail and voice mail messages in one call. Since we can
access our voice and e-mail at the same time, we are able to be twice
as productive!" Another Reichhold employee stated that the product is
a great solution when used as a remote access method for employees
who work from the home.

Reichhold is pleased with how easily the product integrated into the
corporate network. With the purchase of the trail system, the product
will move into the pilot status. This move will expose Be There! to a
wider range of employees with varying computer skills. One Reichhold
representative feels that the Be There! system is so user-friendly, they
anticipate the transition for employees to be an easy one.

George Bennett, DATA RACE Senior Vice President of Sales said,
"We are very pleased with how quickly Reichhold Chemicals has been
able to achieve increased productivity and savings using the Be There!
solution. We look forward to supporting Reichhold Chemicals and are
excited about the opportunity for expanded deployment of the Be
There! system."
