For many years, I've posted on the strengths of the Chinese single-party system. Mainly on the basis of efficiency and intelligent distribution of resources. Essentially, the leaders look at a map of the country and decide where to build a dam, a highway network, trains, etc. and in short order it is done. I agree with you that it's a fascinating contrast to our wasteful system of pork barrel politics.

I worked as a broker for Merrill Lynch and made my first purchase of a Chinese company back in maybe 1993. It was an automaker and had the strange, maybe even ominous, name of China Brilliance. I'll also say that China has indeed manipulated its currency. Other than that I don't fault China for anything. China simply took what we offered--American factories on Chinese soil while factories on America soil laid off workers and/or completely shut down. At the same time, China dragged its feet for decades by creating trade barriers to keep American made products out. And then there's the skillful way China bargained with American companies to gain access to their intellectual properties.

China's leaders don't have to run for office, lol. Ours do. In order to get elected and stay elected, most of Congress has steadily given American corporations enormous power to do whatever they want. They are no longer patriotic entities. They will offshore jobs even when the increased profits are miniscule. They will reincorporate in a country like Ireland that has no income tax while at the same time enjoying varying degree of "corporate welfare"--programs devised by Congress over the years to reward corporations for their campaign contributions.

I'm 100% behind Trump's desire to get factories and jobs back to America. Just hope he can get Congress on board and some smart folks come up with ideas. I'm bewildered that people make fun of MAGA and don't seem to understand what 'putting America first' means.
