I think it was FDR who said, "no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country."


While your statement that a low wage is better than no wage makes sense, a working person shouldn't have to depend on government for their survival. But that's what's happened. Then these same companies support tax cuts and the elimination of the social programs that help their low-income workers.


Can we at agree that passing massive tax cuts that went mostly to rich people and creating massive debt was very immoral and economically indefensible? The long term debt will be with us forever. Whatever growth that came from tax cuts is short-lived.


It's not like the boomers magically decided to retire. Everyone knew when they'd start to retire and one party decided to deprive them of their money by creating massive debt. Republicans had a phrase for this when they started it. They called it "starve the beast." They thought less money would reduce spending but they can't stop themselves from spending. Obviously, a seriously failed political philosophy.


I didn't mean to suggest we have only one party, only that the other major party be banned. I assume something better would emerge.
