John, Don't give up so easily. There could be other
superstrong materials that are almost as good or perhaps
even better than Kevlar. This gets back to the VHS
vs. Betamax argument. Lots of people think Betamax
was better but VHS was better marketed. Sony was sole Betamax
vendor vs. Matsushita sold VHS engine to dozens of different
box makers - let them create the competitive market.
Is this too different from Apple and Intel?
Some say the PowerPC chip is better, but Intel took the VHS
marketing approach and Intel chips are sold in Compaq, Dell,
HP, Sony, etc. boxes. Apple took the Sony Betamax strategy
and now they have only 3% of the market.
