*AV* -- I am getting all kinds of signals that indicate the Internet companies are NOT a place to be. My analyst buddies are walking away from these stocks and the cyber media are also downplaying these stocks from AOL to NSCP to Cybercash to Yahoo and all peripheral parts of the Internet. Apparently it is real tough to show the numbers Wall Street likes. I hear and see so much negativity that a short might be in order as you suggest.

HOWEVER, I am very skeptical and have personally decided to stay on the sidelines with these stocks because I smell a setup. Pontificate one way to set up the poor suckers as you take them to the cleaners.
I don't like to get involved when I feel the "Fix" may be in. The Internet is coming into its own but the companies are not making $$$ at it yet. I see consolidations and fees coming down the road. If so, the free ride might be over and people will use it less. We all have a tendency to parttake in free enterntainment but once you put a price on it (higher access fees, local telephine access fees, back to the pricing per hour, etal., we may see something else occur. Don't forget WebTv when it comes into its own may actually hurt the present companies. The flip side is that a major provider of WebTv could take over the likes of AOL and such jjust to have the subscribership.

Bottom Line: too flaky for me to figure out which way is up. Too skeptical about whether I believe what I am reading, and wary of a setup by the market. However, if your mind is made up to play the game, the short side seems to be slighly favorable here.
