Tom, you mentioned;

<<<Matt 24:15
15 So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,'
spoken of through the prophet Daniel-- let the reader understand--
(NIV)>>>

If I might add, I have heard another possible interpretation of this verse. In the Catholic Church, the most sacred thing to them is the Eucharist - the bread and wine - which represents Christ. For some of them, the "abomination" has already begun by those who wish to remove the Eucharist from the sanctuary of the church. This had been done in some cases by those who reject the Eucharist. Not because of the argument of whether the Eucharist actually turns into the body and blood of Christ, but because of what it represents- the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross.

Follow with me for a moment. In Protestant Churches, our devotion is to scripture. As John wrote - ....the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Just as some are wanting to remove the Eucharist (Christ) from the Catholic sanctuary, there are those that want to remove or question the truth and validity of scripture in the Protestant Church. So in effect the abomination has already begun. The antichrist, in the form of those who reject the Eucharist (Catholic) and Scripture (Protestant), have already begun to enter into the temple - the church.

I know some may find that a stretch, I just offer it for dissuasion. As Daniel said, "let the reader understand."

Scott

Hi Tom,
There is tremendous interest in Israel over the Temple. They are even training some Rabbis in sacrifice procedures and are seeking the ashes of the red hefer and have animals ready for the event. The Arabs are knowledgable of this and I believe this to be the major motivator of the hostility between them. The Doom of the Rock has been thought to be in the exact location of the Temple but recently they have discovered that it is only on a corner of the real site. Most scriptures regarding prophesy have multiple meanings that is one reason we can be sure it was not written by men. In Matthew what Jesus told them deffinately applied to the Roman invasion of the Temple in 70AD but I believe it as most scripture will have a future meaning as well. It would be like Nehemiah for them to rebuild the opposition would be so overwhelming and Nehemiah would have failed miserably if God had not been behind them, so I don't know if it will be accomplished or not but I am watching closely. The Maoz site is a source of good information from Israel.
