When the FED start to lower rates we will be near the bottom, unless the econ. is in deap doo doo.

"We could easily see no change in Fed interest rate policy for the first half of this year," the noted Fed watcher said. "But the Asian crisis will depress growth in the second half of 1998 and will probably force the Fed to lower rates in one or two moves in the second half. That would bring the overnight federal funds rate down to 5 percent by the end of the year.">>
