The Communist take over in Russia and China resulted from the working class becoming conscious of the conditions behind their economic oppression and organizing to overthrow the corrupt government. In fact, communism was a success in China and achieved its goal of providing food, shelter, clothing and jobs for the masses, at a low standard of living. It was a stage on the way to providing stability before growth could emerge in a fairer manner. The amount of poverty in this country is alarming. Now go tell me how capitalism has eliminated poverty or made great inroads, as if you really care.

I disagree, Ten. Capitalism here is self-destructing, as the wealthy refuse to share the pie anywhere near equally with the workers who actually create the wealth. Real incomes for working people haven't budged in fifty years, while the GDP and stock markets have soared. At least some of the wealthy realize this: Message 31349862 Cuz, this is the end game, only with big magazine, bump-stocked assault rifles instead of pitchforks: It's different in China, where average real incomes ARE rising dramatically, in that hybrid country. China has 600,000,000 newer middle class citizens, with 1.2 billion waiting to join in. We are less relevant to multinational corporations every day. Our counter to this grim fact is to elect an easily manipulated idiot as our leader.
