Thanks. What doing that type trading allows me to do is lower my cost basis of my longs, or raise my cost basis on the shorts, if that makes sense. Of course, the vital thing is that you have to be right on the intermediate term direction of the market, or have the intestinal fortitude to ride out the time when the market is going against you. For instance, today my account was down significantly at the time I was making those buys; I'm now willing to accept that as a cost of doing business; it makes the profit-taking all the more sweet. And the tax-preferred treatment of the futures is not an insignificant thing
