The hypocritical aspect of that idea is that every time a program has been suggested to combat obesity and bad health habits, such as school lunch choices and just advocating healthy options such as MIchele Obama's healthy eating advocacy, there's always conservatives who scream in outrage... "Keep you government hands off my Big Macs and 64 oz Cokes!!!...

Freedumb!

Steve, these are just symptoms of the problem, who's pay what, whos fault it is ect.

The problem is for profit healthcare costs are way to high compared to government health care of the rest of the world. Everyone will get sick sooner or later.

Well, what is more cruel? To create a system like Obamacare and force 90% of Americans to pay 2-3 times as much as they used to, so that 5% of the most unhealthy people in the country due to their own life choices can have health care, as well as another 5% that are too poor to afford it? I can even get on board with the latter, but not the former. Call me cruel all you want, but 4 out of 5 Americans are obese. That is a systemic issue. I am not. I am older, but I exercise regularly and do my best to eat right. If there were more market incentives to stay healthier, then maybe more people would be healthy, instead of stealing money from others to pay for their unhealthy habits.

Also, what is strange about wanting to ensure our kids are taken care of? I find it evidence of a deeply unhealthy culture when a country decides they will spend all their money on the old and dying and skimp on investing in their kids. That's what is happening you know. Educational standards in this country are in the toilet. Many of the uninsured are kids. That is where we should point our bleeding hearts.

Oh and btw, I'm in the old category, so when I'm being heartless and cruel in your opinion, I'm including myself in that category that I'm saying none of you guys should spend money on. And I'm ok with that. It's the natural order of the world that the older should give way to the younger and that we should make sure we leave them a better world than we lived in.

What is distorted, sick and immoral is what we're doing in this country, where we're allowing the old and sick to rape the country, leaving the country deeply indebted and telling future generations, "screw you". That is the hallmark of a cancerous culture and a dying society.
