>> Bureaucrats take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, not a loyalty oath to the President. The patronage/spoils system was replaced by a merit system back in the 19th century. Civil servants are are forbidden from partisan politics, either to favor the President or oppose him.

In your experience do you think there has been a change in the willingness to follow this pledge? That is, does it seem that this president and the last have evoked a greater commitment to partisanship than previous presidents, or you think maybe it is about the same?

I think you might be a bit idealistic. There is absolutely sabotage going on in the White House and across many career folks put in place during the Obama Administration. It's all part of the "Resistance", and frankly, I find it disloyal to this country. If those people don't think they can do their job, which means also no leaking to discredit our President, then leave. Leaving in protest over a President that you despise is honorable. Subverting that President through illegal leaks and disloyalty is not only unethical, but it does not serve the American people.
