Buying new insurance generally takes into effect the health of the applicant in determining a premium. If the policy was an in force group plan, it could only be canceled for non payment or for fraud, or the administrator of the group made the change. If they canceled your mother solely for a medical diagnosis, you should have sought help from your state insurance commission or hired a lawyer, or both. Was she on medicare?

I personally made phone calls to the insurance company saying we'd be willing to pay $10,000 a month to reinstate her insurance and the two conditions made it impossible. She had insurance under my Dad's work insurance. Why was the policy cancelled? Did your father retire or die? Did the business not pay the premiums on time? I don't think you are telling us the entire story. Spouses are almost never covered when the insured loses coverage in a group plan. Insurance companies are scum and the bottom of the barrel with caring or integrity, but obamacare was not the answer. Your mother may have benefited and that's ALL THAT YOU CARE ABOUT, but millions of middle class people got royally screwed. The freeloaders also made out pretty well. You libs love brag about "caring" but you don't give a shit about the people that got screwed!!
