yup! My guess is lack of income tax a big plus. I bet your taxes on this HUGE investment to build a very sophisticated chip factory (III-V semiconductors, not Silicon) would have a huge property and sales tax in California too...

What is the sales tax in Texas? I recall TJ Rogers saying he'd not build a $1B chip plant in Taxifornia because he'd have to give 9.25% (at that time) to the state in taxes to buy the equipment!

That is why all the old chip plants are gone... my last design was on a 6" Cupertino fab that is long gone...
