After Reagan cut taxes politicians in almost every state decided to do the same. Reagan taught us that deficits and debt don't matter and voters really don't know or care about either. Talk of cutting taxes can be news for months, but a story on the debt they create is a one-day story tops.

In my state we had massive tax cuts. Then revenue collapsed and no one has the balls to raise taxes again. They started with a 3% cut, then 4%, now it's close to 10% and they still don't have enough money. Cuts in education seem to be very popular. Having an untrained and illiterate state is what conservatism needs.
