So do you think that is worth an extra 20% or 30% or more of your income?
When there is an international 911 call no one ever asks Singapore or Ireland to send a carrier group or Marine battalion. Just something to think about. RDK
Singapore Tax Rate with free health care for all = 22%

US Tax Rate in SF not including what we pay for our own health care:
  • Fed Top Rate is 39% (perhaps 37.5% soon)
  • CA State Top Rate is 13.3%
  • SF City Top Rate is 1.5%

DO the MATH! What is that top rate once your house is paid for (no mortgage deduction)?

For me, once the rate went over 50% so freeloaders, illegal aliens, "Health Care" cough...cough providers and warmongers made more from my work than I, it became more important for me to optimize free time and not money made via salary.

I spend quite a bit of time on making capital gains which have better (lower) tax rates AND when the markets are down, I have converted decent sums to ROTH IRAs where I've done very, very well on capital gains where no taxes at all will be due.

It is amazing how well you can do trading the long cycles of cyclical stocks making first buys in taxable accounts, middle buys in regular IRAs (where I do short term trading since there are no lower rates for LT cap gains when money is taken out) then do the final, low buys in ROTH IRAs such as my recent buy of FNSR at $17.50.... and AMAT at $15 something a couple of years back.

I've done well and my subscribers write me that they are very happy, but I sure felt I helped more people such as when I designed the electronics for a product we could build in an old San Jose fab that kept over 200 people employed for another 2 years....

I agree. I see the guy who was killed in Niger a few months ago that everyone kinda forgot to talk about until after a Congresswoman said Trump was rude to his wife was shot around 18 times and his body was dismembered. It's in the news today.
