Now that the heavy hitters on this thread have weighed in with
most cogent and artful prospectives on the market, it should prove
even more interesting to hear Brinker's commentary this weekend;
Heaven forbid guest hosts or athletic contest pre-emptions. I can
only offer a little saying, trite or not, which has guided me through
many moons in the market- notwithstanding the vicissitudes of that
wily beast, bull or no. That is, "Nothing is ever as good as it seems,
nor as bad as you fear." It may even be that this little byword bears
wider applicability.

On a related issue, did you hear the call on last week's show asking about the science & technology fund? Bob refused to comment....

Yes, indeed. He also sounded quite shocked that the Fidelety Select Electronics was doing SO MUCH BETTER even considernig the 3% load. BB's advice has kept me from the loaded Fidelity one even with its better performance. I wonder what he will say.

I sold half my small Asia position and got TRP S&T since it is in the same family only to see it go down, though not nearly as much....

At the least, I was thinking it was worth a phone call to the show if this month's issue didn't address the extremly poor performance. My technology stock portfolio is up something like 150% compared to this fund's 50% for the past 3 yrs....better off on my own and I am cheaper than a fund manager!

I wonder if that caller got a health care fund that wasn't happy with this fund a few months ago before the strong, 55% 1995 return dropped from the 3 yr window? 8) 2% in '96 and 1.5% in '97 and down this yr are not numbers I am happy with. Maybe the fund was way up at the time of the call and is now way off? I just remember BB did not like the caller questioning the fund.

regards
Kirk
