Dear Taxi, I don't know where you're coming from. You might be Jewish by birth, and therefore be Jewish by faith. Or aethiest, if your parents were. Or a heathen born in a Christian country and dragged to Christian churches like most of us were. Or you might be Arabic, and have swayed toward Islam, or there are hundreds of variations on the above. And the only thing that has separated the people on the "God " threads from the rest of you is one day we wandered into the immediate proximity of one or more beautiful persons who talked about our need for Jesus Christ in our lives, and one by one most of us repeated a simple prayer to oJesus to forgive us of our sins, and to come into our lives and take over our minds and hearts, and we gave Him the permission to do so. Because, you know, Taxi, Jesus Christ is the most gentlemanly of all possible gentleman and He never barges into any life until asked. Trust me. If you ask in any words you wish, He will come into your life. Then you won't have any questions about a lot of things because the Holy Spirit will explain them to you, and the Bible will suddenly become about the most interesting book you have ever read. This is the miracle of salvation. It is so simple it just doesn't make sense. You question the behavior of leading religious figures like Swaggart and the Bakers, and a few others. THis subject has caused me so much "vexation" to the uttermost, that I cannot talk about it. Forget about them. They MAY be in Heaven, and then again.....they just might not. So I don't put any more energy into it, and I let all the other Christians who are a lot more into the "forgiveness of fallen evangetlists who make billions on TV" than I am. It falls so far from the standard set by Jesus Christ that there is scarcely the tiniest hint of a parallel between these opportunistic lives and the life of the Lord they made their money speaking about. It is a great mystery, and how it can go without serious judgment, I just don't know. Keep your eyes on you and Jesus, and that's all that matter really. Just you and Jesus, me and Jesus, whatever and Jesus. Once He is in the picture in even the slightest way, the whole world simply becomes a different place. But only after making Him a part of your world. And that is because a relationship with Jesus Christ makes you aware of the reality of a God in Heaven, which was never anything before but a vague hope something was there. But you can't really believe it until you get hooked up with Jesus, the Son of God. That is the meaning of John 3:16. For God so loved Taxi that He gave His only begotten Son that if Taxi would believe on Him he would not perish, but would inherit eternal life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn Taxi, but that Taxi, through Him, might be saved. And it goes on. Shalom has posted the Gospels on Alpha and Omega, if you ever care to glance at it it is there. Best wishes for the evening, Taxi.
