Dear Taxi, I don't know where you're coming from. You might be Jewish by birth, and therefore be Jewish by faith. Or aethiest, if your parents were. Or a heathen born in a Christian country and dragged to Christian churches like most of us were. Or you might be Arabic, and have swayed toward Islam, or there are hundreds of variations on the above. And the only thing that has separated the people on the "God " threads from the rest of you is one day we wandered into the immediate proximity of one or more beautiful persons who talked about our need for Jesus Christ in our lives, and one by one most of us repeated a simple prayer to oJesus to forgive us of our sins, and to come into our lives and take over our minds and hearts, and we gave Him the permission to do so. Because, you know, Taxi, Jesus Christ is the most gentlemanly of all possible gentleman and He never barges into any life until asked. Trust me. If you ask in any words you wish, He will come into your life. Then you won't have any questions about a lot of things because the Holy Spirit will explain them to you, and the Bible will suddenly become about the most interesting book you have ever read.

This is the miracle of salvation. It is so simple it just doesn't make sense.

You question the behavior of leading religious figures like Swaggart and the Bakers, and a few others. THis subject has caused me so much "vexation" to the uttermost, that I cannot talk about it. Forget about them.

They MAY be in Heaven, and then again.....they just might not. So I don't put any more energy into it, and I let all the other Christians who are a lot more into the "forgiveness of fallen evangetlists who make billions on TV" than I am. It falls so far from the standard set by Jesus Christ that there is scarcely the tiniest hint of a parallel between these opportunistic lives and the life of the Lord they made their money speaking about. It is a great mystery, and how it can go without serious judgment, I just don't know. Keep your eyes on you and Jesus, and that's all that matter really. Just you and Jesus, me and Jesus, whatever and Jesus. Once He is in the picture in even the slightest way, the whole world simply becomes a different place. But only after making Him a part of your world. And that is because a relationship with Jesus Christ makes you aware of the reality of a God in Heaven, which was never anything before but a vague hope something was there. But you can't really believe it until you get hooked up with Jesus, the Son of God.

That is the meaning of John 3:16.

For God so loved Taxi that He gave His only begotten Son that if Taxi would believe on Him he would not perish, but would inherit eternal life.

For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn Taxi, but that Taxi, through Him, might be saved.

And it goes on. Shalom has posted the Gospels on Alpha and Omega, if you ever care to glance at it it is there.

Best wishes for the evening, Taxi.

Hi taxi,
I've seen you around on the threads. Hope '98 is a good year on the portfolio!
I want to say something about one of the devil's favorite and highly successful ploys to keep people away from Jesus. First understand that when a person is born again and accepts Jesus as Savior it is a spiritual transformation that takes place. We are then sealed by the Holy Spirit as a promise. Consider what we were saved from. A state of sin. This state of sin is a state of being, not the acts of being sinful (things we do that we call sin, stealing, lying). When we have a cold and cough we don't call the cough a cold because it is only a symtom of the state of having a cold. If we have a cold we cough, when we are in a state of sin we steal, lie. So then we are saved from the state of sin and sealed, but the flesh profits nothing from this!! As the word says we are still in "this body of sin". So then every christian is thrust into conflict with his/her body of sin as sin tries to rule through the body and righteousness through the Holy Spirit. So as a result of this conflict christians are seen coughing, sometimes manifesting symtoms of sin that still struggles to rule through our flesh.
Now the devil has been very clever and used this to alienate hords of non-believers who see the outward sign, "coughing", when the "body of sin" gains a temporary advantage. The devil says look at him, he is sinning and he's a christian, dripping with sarcasm. People are put off by this outward sign of what they think is hypocrisy not understanding the meaning of what they see and the underlying struggle. This successfully keeps a lot of people from going to church and being saved. If we could look at our brothers and understand the struggle (and maybe they are losing the struggle at that particular time) we would have more compassion. We have to be overwhelmingly grateful to the Lord for our forgiveness in the face of our unworthiness.
Now what about the ones who give in to the sin and quit for a time to struggle sincerely against the "body of sin". Well first there is grace but after a time discipline by the Lord. God says he will not be mocked (by those who use His grace as a liscense to sin). Whatever we sow we will also reap (in this life). So God's judgement is just. We all suffer loss for our deeds now if our deeds are sin and we do not repent, but in the next life salvation with our Lord.
The devil's schemes are many and some are tailored for the masses and some for individuals. That schemer hates to see any slip from his grasp and he has the full court press on to anyone who is getting close to turn them back from Jesus and His salvation.

Have a great day,

Bob
