The methyl mercury deleterious effects are what's the problem. The smaller fish are lower on the food chain, eating mostly plankton, and therefore have less of it. Just guessing... but I doubt there is much science to this.

Sardines would be near perfect, but they smoke them and that has carcinogens.


Who is "they"? Not all sardines are smoked. King Oscar are the best. My daily lunch is a tin with homemade sauerkraut.
