I cannot believe we are having this discussion. The Republicans have been trying to replace secular public schools with vouchers for 50 years. Now they have the perfect conduit for the effort to turn secular public schools into religious schools.

Betsy Devoss, she is another village idiot and religious zealot that Trump appointed as secretary of education is working on doing just that. . A billionaire zealot that never went to a public school.

The plutocrats/oligarchs that have control of this government would love to keep the masses ignorant. It is easier to use propaganda on uneducated people than educated people. The first thing tyrants always do ismuzzle the press and education. Everyone knows that.

Ask yourself why only 6% of scientists are Republicans and 81% lean democrat and 51% describe themselves as liberal.

Fox news, Trump and the Republicans have been so successful at fooling the people, that the people keep voting for things that are against their best interest.

As I keep saying you greatly underestimate the intellectual ability of the average person which comprises at least 80% of the people. One standard deviation below the mean and Two standard deviations above the mean. Stanford Binet.

And the way education e.g.free pre school, changes things is that studies how poor kids start kindergarten two years behind rich kids. Free preschool would close that gap.

If everyone is educated, bosses will be picked by individual capabilities as determined by people who hire them.

That's the way it works now. How does educating everyone change either the relative capabilities of applicants or the hiring determinations of bosses?
You never addressed that question. How does educating the kids at the back of the concert hall get them a better shot at the jobs currently filled by the signalers?

In science they have a term called "knowledge directed perception".

There's also a term called "confirmation bias," which means seeing what one believes rather than believing what one sees.

<<If you take some active kid with an 90 IQ, a strong back, and a love of the outdoors and send him to college, he may get some enlightenment out of it, but not enough to warrant the expense and he would be miserable.>>

What would you have these strong backed active girls/boys do for a living? Computers are taking jobs away from everyone from Wall Street to Main Street.

When I first started investing it took weeks to mail a check to a company to buy stock. Now it's done in a fraction of a second. Even those jobs are gone and they'll never come back again.

Farms need free trade and we have someone in the WH who doesn't know anything about free trade or farming (or much of anything else). We elected an idiot because that's who we've become - a nation of fat, ignorant and lazy people.

We need leaders who can think. Not leaders who know how to lie better than anyone else. But liars win. Bush lied and won, Reagan lied and won. Trump lied and won. The gop lied and won and can't win by telling the truth. At some point, the issue of facts and truth need to enter discussions such as this.
