I think I concur, but consumers/mfgs will buy the least expensive
memory until forced to upgrade to faster/larger memory as
performance in computers increases.

Re: Many of them are being forced to exit the game and take their old equipment off line (so sayeth Lam, after their last tour of customer facilities), and hence reduce the problem of oversupply.

What will happen to the "old" equipment, seems likely that it will
be sold on the open market to fabs needing inexpensive
manufacturing capability. May prevent/limit small volume sales
to smaller niche fabs.
