Countdown to Year 2000
_____Days__ Hours__ Mins Secs
There's Less than 28 months left...
As the year 2000 approaches, every company in every industry is facing the formidable challenge of ensuring that its computer systems will continue to operate successfully after December 31, 1999. The National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD®) is no different. The upcoming change in century presents unique information-technology and compliance issues for the NASD and its two subsidiaries—The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc., and NASD Regulation, Inc.

Since computers use dates to perform many important functions, it is
absolutely critical for each and every introducing and clearing firm to act now to assess its technological environment and make the needed changes to ensure that automated processes with date-sensitive components will correctly identify "00" as the year 2000, rather than 1900, when the date changes to January 1, 2000.
NASD Member Requirement
NASD Regulation requires all NASD members to return a completed "Year 2000 Compliance Survey" to NASD Regulation no later than January 31, 1998.

David,

As you well know, industry awareness of embedded systems has lagged the general IS problem for quite some time now. I believe however that awareness will accelerate in 98. Why? Some answers in

TPRO will most definitely pass this thread in volume.

However, if you go back through the TPRO thread and remove all duplicate references to articles and other hyperlinks, and all bickering back and forth about the stock price, you'll find that there are really only 3117 posts there.

Different strokes ...
