David,

Hope you read my post about half year ago when WDC stock was still in
$50 and every one loved it. At that time, I suggested that WDC be the best short canidiate for HDD company based on their technology. THey were (are) late on MR technology and their management thought that they only needed thin film technology. I was right.

For IOM, just look their JAZ, seems deeply in trouble. Jaz uses "peak detection" for reading and writing data while the industry has moved to PRML(digital technology). In order to compatible to JAZ, Jaz two Giga seems like to be "Peak detection" too. This old technology has no future and can not support high density recording.

THings do not stop, just read IOM's recent news release, some of the worst guys in HDD industry screw up other HDD companies joined IOM. This HDD industry is competing with brian and technology instead of politics. If IOM can not attract good guys, it would be end.

Don't believe what IOM's news release said, just call some of the companies those guys worked before and FIND out why they were leaving. Were they forced resigned or laid off? What were the track records for them at those companies?

If the team leader is used to be a loosing team leader, the team would be higly likely a loosing team again. It is just so simple.

By the way, I do not buy or sell IOM stock.

Good luck.

Andy

Hi, Mindmeld,

I was quite positive to IOM until recently after they hired some of the worst guys in HDD industry to their PDA group.

Why I am so negative to IOM now, just tell you a story.

I have a friend John who was a director of QA at a major
HDD company, his boss was recently hired by IOM PDA group. One time
they were trying to develop a new disk drive, but serious quality
issue delayed the launching the drive. He was under pressure from
his boss to let the drive pass but he refused to sign. finally,
his boss replaced him and the drive passed QA automatically. His
boss got a big bonus because he met the schedule.

my friend resigned after this. I am more and more concerned new JAZ
now. SUch bad thing could happen again.
At least, as long as such person in charge at IOM, I will never
buy IOM drive .

If your guys want to know more such bad stories, I can get more]
for you.

GOod luck.

Andy
