There's an English citizen in Los Angeles who shares the same name as mine.

Over the years of misdirected calls I learned he was a well-known "food decorator" which is apparently someone who specializes in setting up food primarily for advertising photo shoots but also films and broadcasts.

Burgers are carefully repackaged to highlight the ingredients, fresh vegetables are waxed and vanilla ice cream is replaced with mashed potatoes mixed with white pigment so it doesn't melt under the hot lights.

I actually met him at a car wash when he noticed I was the person who had taken our mutual initials as a license plate number. He does a lot of work for Elton John apparently, though god only knows why a singer would need his food decorated for the camera.

One wonders how a person could end up in such an unusual career. It's not like there's a school for this. - I didn't ask.

This hamburger patty is actually varnished.

Has anyone ever opened up a pint of ice cream which looked like this? Of course not. The chocolate fish are washed and buffed and dropped onto hand scooped "ice cream".
