Welcome to hell J.D.

Seriously, thanks for the good post/opinions. You are probably pretty close to the mark.

What do they call Rockhead in Argentina, rockcabeza?

As for the 49ers, Green Bay said "hasta la vista" to them today.

Ouch (I live close to the Bay area).

How much, in dollars, are zips going for down there? You might want to import some from Ingram and make some dinero off the spread. If you do, do so soon. Every one sold helps.

Good luck.

J.D. Welcome to the thread, you have what the thread needs, common sense and a good understanding of your IOM investment. Keep posting and let us know the South American news. It's fun to hear from people throughout the world and to know that the Zip has taken hold in Argentina. SR

Hey cool! A brand new Iomegan poster comes to us ever so encouragingly on the eve of destruction. I consider this a good omen, and so shall take heart that we will NOT be creamed tomorrow.

Thanks so much, J.D.!

Welcome to the madhouse :)

Evening J.D.

Another hypester on this thread, as the bears would say.

I tend to agree with your analysis, IOM will only beat estimates by one penny, if at all and continue with their philosphy of managed growth.

As to the niners. GB can beat them as many times as they want, however, GB is no niners. The niners will always be No. 1, long after the GB fad is over. At least Denver won. John E. is great.

Zead

>- I think ZIP is fast reaching "critical mass" and the number sold will only be limited by production capacity... I don't expect them to lower prices until production exceeds demand...<

J.D. this is a point that I think not many people realize. The penetration of Zip has been limited only by Iomega's conservative production growth. They've been conservative in building production due to the cost and the logistics. At this point with a strong million plus per month being sold the foundation is in place.

Demand is still strong as evidenced by the drive price holding steady and the availability issues. The thing that I'm incredibly anxious for is NEC and MKE(?) turning on. This will really kick things in. With Iomega and these guys turning on I expect 3 million Zips per month being sold by the end of the year.

Once second source vendors come on-line OEMs will include Zip in more drives. Drive price will drop to under $50. I do think that growth will surge this year, stronger than we've seen to date.

There will be another burst of sales in retail this year also. I expect the Zip 2 to be shipping by the end of the summer. This will mean a great upgrade cycle for all of the Zip drive already out there. Think about it. By mid-summer over 20 million Zip drive will have shipped and a good percentage of those users will want the Zip 2 for so that they can share both 100 MB Zip disks and the 200+ MB ZIp disks.

This is going to be an amazing year...
