At the risk of repeating myself, PBX systems are not in imminent danger of being replaced. The keywords are replaced and immiment, neither of which conflicts with the notion of being a historical footnote. They will be phased out as voice communications services are integrated with LANs. Either way, none of that has any bearing on the success or failure of RACE's jerry-rigged modems. That's what we are talking about here: a modem with some mutliplexing capability at the expense of efficiency, reliability and compatibiliy. Maybe that's the real reason the product has been an abject failure.
