I get nervous thinking about escalating tariffs. "If goods don't cross borders, armies will."

As we know, Trump will say anything when he's dealing. Maybe threatening further tariffs is his way to pressure other nations to lower theirs.

Interesting times.

If a Chinese company imports a refrigerator, the tariff is exactly what an American company would pay to export a refrigerator to China.
About 15 years ago, I had a business trip to Brazil. That was their visa policy. If a country required Brazilians to get a visa, they required that country's citizens to have a visa. I got a visa for Brazil.
