The Reagan Admin were the people who began the destruction of our balance sheet and the wholesale war on unions and the middle class. Greenspan was an accomplice with his SS Commission which codified a regressive tax system in a sneaky way, under the guise of "saving" SS. Agree. It was the Reagan administration.

There are multiple factors, but totally Agree, raygun administration huge in all the factors you point out Also don't forget under Ronnie was when his FCC guy did away with the Fairness Doctrine, which enabled the rise of the right wing hate machine such as Rush Limbaugh etc to take over the airwaves of talk radio pushing their lies and propaganda since the late 1980s and then of course we now have a TV network that is basically Trump TV and they are not done, Sinclair Broadcasting coming to a neighborhood near you During the 60's the religious right, and racists in general came out of the woodwork due to the passage of equal rights... They were temporarily stamped down due to intellectual conservatives like William Buckley, but only for a short time Also, Raygun gave us the 5/4 conservative SCOTUS that blessed us with "Citizens United" in 2010 which gave free reign to dark money politics... ya gotta love the Orwellian "citizens united" which really was designed against the opposite In the republicon cry of "MAGA", when was the country all that great compared to other democracies? other than defeating Hitler... Well, it became great because it was a great melting pot of all walks of life... which the trumpurds now despise America and allies defeated the Nazis... but they are trying to make a comeback with their 'great white hope'
