singapore is (just) a quirky little city, and can only be compared to other city states if at all, or to countries w/ similar size population, a guess

for many families i know, the guys prefer hong kong and the mrs prefer singapore

for raising kids as kids, singapore is a good place

for preparing kids to be adults, hong kong is a better place

for folks who prefer small governments to behave as small governments, hong kong trumps singapore

etc etc

so each must weigh for self

i personally find singapore boring
