My A Team did not have a 4.2 mortar...Too heavy to haul by hand in the jungle. We had one or two 60mm and an 81mm, one ma deuce 50 Cal. atop a machine-gun tower and a few 30 Cal A6s in fighting bunkers. Everyone else had an M16, CAR 15 or M2 30 Cal Carbine. I carried a CAR 15. Our Montagnards handled the crew-served weapons. That was not heavy considering we stopped an NVA tank and infantry attack the night of 3-4 March 1969. It was however enough. Anyone around Greensboro, NC, at 0830, on 3 March, I've been asked to speak about my 20 years service in SF at the The Black Cap breakfast meeting. I promise my speech won't last 20 years...maybe 20 minutes. BTW the new movie "12 Strong" depicts a sister A Team that stopped a tank attack in Afghanistan. Awesome movie. I've met most of that team...great American warriors and GBs...and a helluva movie...and accurate.

From Reports - At least one tornado and other very high winds just bracketed our home on both sides. We have had intermittent but serious rain, and wind for several hours and it persists as I write this. I thought we may have had a 1st tornado yesterday around 1730-1800...or at least some very high winds with driving rain and hail. And then more high winds and driving rain in the past 2 hours. Local reports indicate, the tornado's path was from High Point, to Greensboro, then N to and through Browns Summit (our town). Both N up Hi-way 29 just East of us and N up Church St just West of us. IMO that trajectory would take 2 tornadoes but they haven't reported how many there were/are. We do have a pretty good roof leak around a skylight. All our emergency systems function ok.
