Sure Tim, there are downsides. Just like everything else in life. And there are no silver bullets. Again, reality sucks like that. But there are a lot of small things that can be done. Throwing up our hands and saying "this is hard, I won't do anything" is not a good answer. Nor is the apparent expectation that everyone has to give up their rights to engage in activities and moving around without being killed by someone who has anger issues and a gun. The idea that gun owners have rights that trump everyone else's is insane. That we have to turn everything into secured locations with body cavity searches and lines through metal detectors because the belief that anyone can buy any weapon for any reason and carry it where ever they want without restrictions is just plain crazy.
