Re: local interconnect

Most of your response was over my head, but I think I got the idea. Local interconnect allows the manufacturer to reduce the size of the source/drain regions at the expense of a more difficult production process. How do the additional tungsten patterns allow for this reduction? Do they connect lots of sources/drains together so that they can be shared? Apparently Intel made the right decision when they decided to forgo their "buried contacts" technique - as evidenced by their stellar yields.

Re: Inside Intel

Since this is probably the only book on Intel around, I certainly can't be too choosy! Even with all its factual errors, though, it sounds like a good read. Thanks for your advice.
