It seems the rest of us around the world are lagging behind the requisite global dream of the Wild West.

When my grandfather came to the US in 1911 on holiday as an 11 year old, that's what he wanted to see - the cowboys and indians, so they went to Hollywood where they still existed.

Goulash by the way is actually the Hungarian name gulyáš for the Hungarian cowboys who herded cattle from the Puszta to markets in Nuremberg, Moravia, Vienna and Venice. The paprika came from the Americas, so Goulash with smoked paprika didn't exist until the 1500s at the earliest.

As you might guess from the form of dress, the Gulyáš originated in the Asian Steppes.
